Starting Up Hockey Season 2020-21!

Aug. 12, 2020

Hope all of our MMHA families have been enjoying summer so far! There have been a lot of questions regarding hockey starting up and of course rumours! The SJHL currently is in discussions with the Sask Health Authority in having their "Return to Play" plan approved. Sask Hockey Association (SHA) is also in discussions and will be speaking with them again in the next few weeks.

Hockey will be a go - we just cannot advise at this time what that date will be as of yet. However in saying this, we will have registrations online this season and are looking to have those out in early September. Melville Minor Hockey will have a full boat for teams this season: Little Mils, U7 (Initiation) Major Hockey League Teams (U9 - U18), Tier 1 AA (U11 - U18) Parkland Fire Female Program (U13 - U18). MMHA will also have a COVID plan and new policies for teams and families to follow, as well as policies that will need to be followed in the rinks.

The age grouping for teams have changed for this season. Here is an outline to assist you with those name changes:

Revised Wording for Age Grouping:

U18 - under 18 years of age (Midget) - 2003 - 2005

U15 - under 15 years of age (Bantam) 2006 - 2007

U13 - under 13 years of age (PeeWee) 2008 - 2009

U11 - under 11 years of age (Atom) 2010 - 2011

U9 - under 9 years of age (Novice) 2012 - 2013

U7 - under 7 years of age (Initiation) 2014 - 2015

We are confirming Tier 1 AA Tryout Dates/Times as we speak. We will have those posted by the weekend. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Look forward to seeing you all soon!
